Each year, The Salvation Army engages in the tradition of "staffing the kettles" to promote the plight of the needy in Polk County. This practice is critical to The Salvation Army's cause, as the money it raises supports the organization’s programs and services throughout the year. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of Polk County residents and businesses, The Salvation Army can continue to provide valuable programs such as feeding the homeless and those in local shelters.
During the summer children attend our local day camp. Almost daily, parents receive infant care items of diapers, formula, cribs and car seats. Families receive utility and rent assistance. Senior citizens confined to nursing homes receive gifts and visits. The Salvation Army of Polk County assists over 31,000 people, annually.
